Position Summary

The Director, Curricula Development and Evaluation is responsible for leading a team of curriculum developers and researchers responsible for the MHFA curricula and its evidence base. The individual in this role will lead efforts to continuously improve existing MHFA curricula and bring new curricula to market based on the direction set by the MHFA product management team. The right candidate will have a passion for quality and a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.


  • Provide strategic guidance to a team of curriculum developers responsible for creating and updating course materials for Instructors and First Aiders (participants)
  • Develop a research strategy to ensure that MHFA maintains its strong evidence base
  • Ensure that all course materials meet MHFA quality and accessibility standards
  • Manage the course piloting process by working closely with stakeholders across MHFA
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for questions about MHFA curricula
  • Lead the CEU application process so that credits can be offered to those completing MHFA courses
  • Ensure that all course development work is completed on time and within budget
  • Manage the MHFA curriculum development budget
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with MHFA’s team of National Trainers
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of experience as a curriculum developer, instructional designer, or comparable role with 5+ years of leading a high-performing team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills with strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing mobile learning or gamified learning experiences
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations associated with ADA compliance, including sections 504 and 508, and accessibility considerations for online learning
  • Strong understanding of adaptive technology products such as NVDA, JAWS, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Kurzweil, ReadSpeaker, or others
