The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) has an opening for the position of Director of Education and Training in the Education and Training Department. As a part of NACAC’s senior management team, the director of education and training is responsible for managing all aspects of NACAC’s professional development programs, including content development and implementation, evaluation and assessment, and supervision of department staff. This position works as part of the senior management team in the execution of NACAC’s strategic goals. Travel is required.

 

NACAC is an education association of more than 15,000 postsecondary and secondary schools, organizations, counselors, and college admission and financial aid officers that work with students as they make the transition from high school to postsecondary education. RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Creates and implements a framework for planning, organizing, and delivering all professional development content for the association.
  • Directs and works closely with program staff to ensure the success, effectiveness, and relevance of all professional development programs. Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to, researching and shaping content for education and training programs, as well as planning, developing, marketing, and executing professional development resources, sessions and conferences for which the Education and Training Department is responsible.
  • Creates an annual program plan taking into account current issues facing all segments of NACAC’s membership.
  • Develops and monitors the budget for the Education and Training Department programs, products and services.
  • Develops, markets, and implements new curricular materials and systems for advancing college admission counseling.
  • Serves as the principal staff liaison to the Professional Development Committee to keep abreast of issues and strategize about delivery of content to support professional development activities.
  • Researches, develops, and/or recommends new content and methods to deliver professional education for adults, including webinars, summer programs, and online curricula.
  • Uses survey and evaluation reports to monitor success of the association’s programming to inform future activities.
  • Develops innovative relationships with NACAC affiliates and related associations for delivery of professional development content and collection of knowledge base materials.
  • Works with senior/executive leadership on the creation and implementation of grant and funding requests. May be called upon to participate in implementation activities for approved grants.
  • Serves as advisor to the CEO, deputy CEO, and executive director for educational content and policy for expertise on professional development.
  • Works with external organizations, to the extent feasible, that maintain interests in college admission counseling and related fields.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience administering credentialing programs.
  • Masters, PhD or Ed D in organizational development, training and development, instructional design, counseling, higher education administration and management, educational policies and procedures, or another related field.
  • Familiarity with higher education, college admission, or school counseling beneficial.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, training and development, instructional design, counseling, higher education administration and management, educational policies and procedures, or another related field.

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the education and training field that includes program design, content development, program management, marketing, budgeting, and training.
  • Experience within nonprofit educational associations and/or creating training for adults, parents, or students.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, or implementing multimodal learning opportunities, including e-learning, in-person workshops, webinars, podcasts, self-study materials, and other forms of professional development.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of the role of associations as learning providers.
  • Experience in strategic and business planning.
  • Ability to assemble and/or build a body of knowledge.
  • Familiarity with instructional design and program delivery; knowledge of adult and adolescent learning and instructional design concepts with a strong focus on e-learning and training methodologies.
  • Knowledge of legal issues and risk management in professional development programs.
  • Understanding of credentialing programs.
  • Experience in marketing professional development resources and programs.
  • Experience in design and interpretation of resource/program evaluation.
  • Ability to manage relationships between vendors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to project staffing and budget needs for professional development resources.
  • Knowledge of certification requirements and programs for CEUs.
  • Ability to coordinate many projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong oral communication skills, including oral expression and comprehension.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate to and work well with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to lead and manage staff.
  • Ability to travel.
