Virginia Commonwealth University seeks a Director of Learning, Organizational Development, and Culture to align VCU's workforce and organizational climate with its strategic mission and create a high performing culture of appreciation. The Director is responsible for sustaining and enhancing an institutional culture that reflects VCU's values, implementing a competency model to serve as the foundation of talent management, and fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement. The Director works cross functionally with university schools and departments to identify business needs, develop and design learning opportunities, determine needed resources, establish processes, and evaluate outcomes. The Director oversees a team of professionals responsible for learning, career and leadership development.

In a Director of Learning, Organizational Development, and Culture, VCU seeks an organized and diplomatic collaborator with the following experience:
  • Ten years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, organizational development, and training
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others and lead change
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
  • The ability to build trust with and influence employees and management at all levels
  • Comfort with diplomatically challenging status quo
  • A proven track record of communicating complex and sensitive information
  • Organizational-savvy, including the ability to understand organizational needs and culture and to effectively diagnose, develop and implement education and development strategies to drive organizational effectiveness
  • Demonstrated track record in training, education, and staff development including knowledge of innovative career and management development programs
  • Familiarity with various training platforms and experience in a variety of delivery tactics
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to work through complex issues, provide insights and make recommendations within established deadlines
  • Self-motivated, assertive, and confident with the ability to act with urgency and passion, while effectively balancing strategic and tactical priorities
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
