Longbow Industries LLC is the parent company of LPR Construction Co.

 

We are seeking a Director, People Development who will be responsible for management and craft training programs for LBI’s subsidiary LPR Construction Co. and future business entities and joint ventures.

 

The Director, People Development will lead and drive the learning and development culture by providing strategy, leadership and support for all departments and projects throughout the organization. With the company’s 500+ employees, this position will be the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for workforce development.

 

Under the direction of the Chief People Officer, the Director, People Development will lead a team of training professionals. He/she will be responsible for creating a highly engaged, dynamic learning culture throughout the organization; and will also be responsible for implementing and maintaining proactive training solutions that will optimize employee performance and productivity. This will include frequent sites visits to partner with management to further enhance and improve the organization’s learning culture.

 

As part of the People Services team for LBI and LPR, this position will partner with Safety, HR & Recruiting to support the engagement, productivity, and development of all team members.

 

Critical Success Factors:

  • Evaluate and identify opportunities to revitalize the training and development function throughout the organization.
  • Conduct an organization-wide training needs assessment, prioritize needs and deliver high impact results to gain credibility.
  • Thoroughly evaluate LMS for effectiveness, user experience and content delivery. Partner with LMS vendor for optimization and provide recommendation plan to improve LMS services and utilization.
  • Build rapport with key members of the organization and direct reports.
  • Live our core values and hold team members accountable to excellence.

 

 

The Position:

  • Oversees training and development programs for Longbow’s family of companies including management and craft/apprentice training functions.
  • Partners with Operations, Talent Acquisition, HR and Safety to align business strategy and needs with talent development to support a people service organization committed to excellence.
  • Identifies/incorporates best practices and lessons learned into initiatives.
  • Conducts annual training and development needs assessment.
  • Proposes training and development programs and objectives.
  • Manages and is accountable to the TD budget and overall cost control within assigned area of responsibility.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of corporate experience in the top training & development position (VP/Director level)
  • 10+ years training and development experience preferably in the construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field
  • Demonstrated success and experience leading training teams, building successful training programs, implementing and maintaining LMS systems, and partnering with business partners to deliver results.
