Education Program Manager – Learning Strategies

Summary
Responsible for leading teams of inter-departmental and outside subject matter experts in the design, development and implementation of conferences, meetings and other types of education programs for NRECA’s membership, using a wide range of educational technologies and delivery channels. These programs are designed to deliver and facilitate high-impact learning experiences that set the standard for cooperative performance and empower cooperative leaders and staff to effectively guide their organizations and communities into the future. This position manages budgets is accountable for the full scope of program management from inception through build, marketing, delivery and evaluation. and collaborates across the department, NRECA and the co-op network.

Purpose and Mission
• Program Management of Education Programs (conferences, meetings, orientations, courses, webinars, workshops, and online programs)
• Collaborates with member advisory groups, internal and external subject matter experts and other stakeholders to determine the needs, scope, content, and delivery method of the program/event (e.g., in-person or online conferences, orientations, courses, seminars, etc.).
• Formulates the education program’s purpose, analyzes the audience, and develops the value propositions, goals and learning objectives.
• Conducts program review cycles and subject-matter expert ideation meetings. Researches and identifies speakers, subject-matter experts and potential instructors to deliver high impact educational content.
• Incorporates innovative instructional strategies, learning delivery channels and practices to improve the effectiveness of education program development, learning application and retention.
• Collaborates with the Learning Management System (LMS) administrator for online program set-up, program delivery, and after event activities.
• Works with the marketing department in design, development and execution of multi-channel marketing plans and strategies promote education programs.
• Collaborates with E&T staff to determine continuing education credit offerings for education programs (e.g., CLE, CPE, CPM/CPSM, PDH, PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CEBS, CMS, and CAP/CPS); oversees implementation and fulfillment.
• Conducts evaluations of programs. Analyzes actual results compared to budgets and goals. Uses participant feedback to inform content revisions, develop future education programs and in marketing materials to communicate the program’s value proposition.
• Researches, designs and develops or co-develops innovative education programs, products and services, that compliment NRECA’s executive and staff education portfolio. These programs and resources include web conferences, podcasts and other technology-enabled learning channels to help leverage content from in-person programs and generate revenue through online learning.
• Designs and conducts need assessments and/or market research to identify training needs that will enhance the effectiveness and success of the cooperative network. Use this information to revise current and/or develop new education programming.
• Participates in non-NRECA sponsored electric utility events and trade shows for purposes of networking, identifying potential partner opportunities, subject matter experts, and speakers and otherwise collecting information that can be used to develop new and enhance existing NRECA programs.
• Builds relationships with member cooperative employees and network partners, including Associate Members and exhibitors, to stay on top of trends, challenges, opportunities and issues that impact electric cooperatives.
• 25% domestic travel

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, business, accounting, or utility industry related degree.
• Association for Talent Development (ATD), American Society for Association Executives (ASAE) certification or equivalent and/or professional certification or licensure a plus.
• Five to seven years experience in designing, developing and managing conferences and meetings and other types of education programs (in-person and online programs).
• Experience working with competency frameworks and using them to develop curriculum and programs.
• Experience in using a Learning Management System (LMS) or similar technology for design and delivery of programs and online collaboration tools (such as threaded discussion boards, and social networking, mobile learning technology).
• Employment experience in a member-based organization’s (association) educational department and experience managing externally contracted projects a plus.
• Knowledge of all aspects of conference and meeting program management including budgets, session design, speaker acquisition, registration, marketing and communication, mobile apps, A-V and meeting logistics as demonstrated by prior work experience
• Knowledge of instructional design theory, models and best practices for both in-person and online education program development as demonstrated by prior work experience.
• Knowledge of development and delivery tools such as InDesign, PowerPoint, Adobe Premiere, Articulate 360 and WebEx as demonstrated by prior work experience.
• Ability leading functional teams without direct supervisory authority over team members as demonstrated by prior work experience.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple education programs at various stages of development using effective organization skills and attention to detail as demonstrated by prior work experience.
• Ability to produce innovative education programs that meet learners’ needs and enhances their on-the-job performance while producing positive revenue results as demonstrated by prior work experience.
• Ability to organize and manage time, operate under pressure and prioritize projects (or work) using effective organizational skills as demonstrated by prior work experience.
• Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse membership, employees and/or vendors in a clear and precise manner as demonstrated by prior work experience.
• Ability to develop and deliver effective and engaging presentations as demonstrated by prior work experience.
