The Instructional Design Associate provides consultation and support services in instructional design, strategies, assessment, technology, and distributed learning for instructional development projects.  As a member of Life Time University (the learning and education department of Life Time) the Instructional Design Associate will work cooperatively with the team to design and develop learning and practicing experiences to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and abilities required for their professional success. The Instructional Design Associate will cooperatively create online learning modules, synchronous web-based training sessions, and instructor-led training.  The Instructional Design Associate will lead the design and development of facilitation guides, participant guides and assessments as well as supporting materials following an instructional design process.
 
Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to determine eLearning content needs, establish project timelines and deliverables and manage all phases of the project from initiation to final deployment.
  • Acts as consultant to distributed content developers within organization, sharing eLearning development best practices, ensuring compliance with development design standards, assisting where needed with audio, video and other media components.
  • Works with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs
  • States instructional end goals and design content that matches them
  • Produces mock-ups, prototypes, presentation materials and other creative LTU presentation tasks
  • Conducts instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
  • Delivers full quality assurance for all files, including ensuring that proofreading, spell-checking and proper procedures are followed
  • Applies tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
  • Provides exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
  • Creates supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.)
  • Decides on the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments
  • Maintains project documentation and course folders
  • Occasionally assists in production (graphics placement, animations, audio importing & editing)
  • Develops and demonstrates a working knowledge of our brands, and produce creative that supports and strengthens the educational needs of those brands
  • Is proactive in retrieving, organizing and following-up on all assets necessary to get the job completed on time and with quality; able to identify requirements to execute tasks
  • Keeps up-to-date with current software and technology and proactively brings recommendations for improvements

Requirements

Minimum
  • BS or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar
  • Two years instructional design and development work experience.
  • One or more years of experience in design, marketing, creative communications or related field a plus.
 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
  • Working Knowledge of instructional strategies, curriculum standards, and assessments
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  • Ability to define objectives for programs and courses
  • Ability to design program assessments and meaningful course interactions to increase learning and retention that are tied to operational goals
  • Define project schedules and manage multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Ability to work with subject matter experts and product sponsors to collect feedback and integrate it into the next product version
  • Visual design skills and ability to storyboard
  • Ability to deliver high quality work within tight, fast-paced timelines
  • Ability to effectively use Adobe Creative Suite (preferred) 
  • Solid knowledge of course development software--Storyline experience (preferred)
