Who we are looking for:

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Instructional Design Specialist to assist the Division Director and members of the Digital Education Division in the programmatic development of digital education products that support independent and blended learning, and continuous professional development as envisaged by the Society’s Strategic Plan and goals of the department.

 

What you will do:

  • Collaborate with staff and members to manage the content development and deployment of new innovative educational products of various formats and media
  • Integrate instructional design principles and strategies into existing content development processes and formats 
  • Share instructional design best practices to other members of the Digital Education Division
  • Apply principles of adult learning and instructional design to guide planning groups, course faculty, and other subject matter experts as they develop individual educational programs/courses designed to address areas of identified need within the field of oncology
  • Exercise independent judgment in the management, planning, design and development of approximately 4-5 innovative digital education activities delivered online and via mobile applications according to established timelines
  • Given training and instruction, utilize technology software such as Articulate Storyline and platforms such as a Learning Management System for the efficient and quality production of digital education content
  • Effectively operate within a team environment to enlist the support of others and achieve programmatic goals
  • Provide exemplary customer service to professional members and non-members in all interactions including individual communications in person, by telephone and email, at the committee/editorial board level, and through provision of meaningful programs

Requirements

What you will need in order to be successful:

  • A Master’s Degree in instructional design or education
  • 5-8 years of a proven track record of course design for digital formats.
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • E-Learning Experience
  • Experience using Articulate Storyline or similar course authoring program to create courses with decision branching experience being a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, web-based applications and learning management systems with mobile apps experience a plus; and an openness to learning and adapting to new technology
  • Ability to effectively communicate design ideas and plans to planners and faculty
  • A proven track record of continuing professional development in learning science and educational technology
