The Instructional Designer is responsible for driving instructional design methodologies and standards

across all learning & development interventions.  In this role the candidate will be responsible for hands-on instructional design, as well as instructional consultation and support services in instructional design, strategies, assessment, and technology to L&D teammates and BSH colleagues.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The candidate will focus predominantly on three division competency areas: “Driving Results,” “Business Performance,” and “Leads and Develops Others.” This role:

  • Coordinates instructional design projects from inception to completion including ownership of all steps of the ADDIE model.
  • Consults with new hire and product training manager teammates on instructional design and learning objectives.
  • Drives or assists (depending on project needs) in the development of instructional strategies, program materials, assessment techniques, appropriate integration of instructional technologies and best practices.
  • Designs and produces learning materials in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, animation, and multimedia to support learning, performance support, and field communication needs. Expected deliverables could include facilitator guides, participant guides, eLearning solutions (i.e., storyboards, etc.), videos, podcasts, and other related learning solutions.
  • Provides assistance to teammates in technology tools and methods, use of instructional software, and effective use of multimedia.
  • Researches and makes recommendations on educational best practices, instructional resources, instructional technologies and multimedia hardware/software to support all learning interventions. 
  • Designs, develops, and delivers workshops and training to teammates in the use of instructional technologies and educational best practices; maintains records.


  • Instructional design & development. Learning technologies related to design, development, delivery, tracking and measurement. Adept at incorporating the latest learning approaches related to the 70/20/10 learning pyramid as it relates to knowledge & skill gaps and performance requirements in sales and service environments.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and organizational skills.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Experience leading change initiatives.
  • Experience working with all levels of an organization.
  • 5+ years’ sales/service training or learning and development experience.



  • BS/BA degree required. MBA/Masters in instructional design, learning & development or industrial/organizational psychology preferred.



  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in global learning & development with an emphasis on instructional design, learning trends and program effectiveness. Experience supporting sales and service training required.
  • Experience in medical device organizations including disposables and capital equipment devices a plus.
