Job Description:

The following are the core duties and responsibilities:

We are looking for an Instructional Designer with at least 4 years' experience to design and develop learning and experiences, courses, WBT storyboards & scripting for our wide variety of clients in industries ranging from telecom to automotive. The goal is to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner while understanding and meeting client needs.
Expectation setting and being proactively engaged is critical to the success of this role.

Requirements

This position reports directly to the Training Director.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer
  • Listening to and understanding client needs and prescribing the correct training path for target audience’s training needs
  • Working with clients and subject matter experts
  • Applying tested instructional design theories, practice and methods including adult learning concepts
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
  • Provide well-thought-out exercises and hands-on, interactive activities that enhance the learning process
  • Brainstorm and scope supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc) and work with the proper expert to produce quality content
  • Maintain project documentation, timelines, and course materials in an organized manner

Core Competencies:

The ideal Instructional Designer is detail-oriented multi-tasker who has great communication skills and is able to easily adapt to changing circumstances. Equipped with a “don’t give up” attitude, dedicated attention to detail and finish, especially when facing resistance or when faced with a challenging opportunity, this candidate knows who to ask for help and aren’t afraid to do so. In addition to these traits, we are looking for candidates that also have the following skills:

  • Proven working experience in instructional design for Instructor Led and Web-Based training
  • Excellent knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design models
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Ability to storyboard (Visual design skills such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator ideal)
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  • BS degree in English, journalism, instructional design, educational technology or similar
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Able to articulate concepts and ideas
  • Go-getter, enthusiastic, ambitious
  • Proactive – understands that there is always something to be done
  • Not stopping until you’ve exhausted all efforts
  • Forward thinking
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Possessing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Having some project Management experience including managing a project from conception to completion
  • Demonstrating proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Docs

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and email.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work:

This is a full-time position located in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel:

Some travel is expected for this position.
