Primary Purpose

This role acts as the main point of contact for a business function within the organization. They work with business leaders to determine the learning plan for the business function. This role defines and implements the agreed upon learning solution to meet the needs of the business and measurably improve employee performance. This role is accountable for overall effectiveness of learning and development services and products for the business units they support. They are responsible for, but not limited to, defining success measures in partnership with the business and HR partners. They need to identify resources and partner with other functions to create impactful solutions. This position is located in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Key Activities

  • Trusted learning & leadership development advisor for assigned business functions; the business will approach this role as a functional leader for its learning needs.
  • Leads projects across business units and divisions. Project scope and exposure includes senior leaders and department heads in local TV markets.
  • Influences future learning and development investments through ongoing relationships with business partners and company-wide business acumen.
  • Guides multiple business functions in the effective use of performance-based strategies, tools and techniques in the development of associates.
  • Consults with the Director of learning and development to ensure the learning plan aligns with the overall Scripps strategy. Leads the design and deployment of blended learning programs, including in-person training, on-line courses, and self-study sessions across businesses and roles.
  • Guides the development of learning assets and instructional materials in a manner that is relevant, meaningful, engaging and effective for defined audiences. Manages the work of contractors and external vendors and guarantees the quality of their deliverables.
  • Conducts needs assessments, consults business plans and collaborates closely with HR and business partners to produce the learning plan.
  • Measures the impact of solutions, collects and analyzes participant feedback and uses that information to improve course outcomes and build the credibility of L&D in the eyes of stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Reports on the impact of learning solutions to business, HR and L&LD partners.
  • Facilitates informal or collaborative learning programs

Requirements

Skills

Education & Experience/Certifications

  • BA/BS required, Master’s degree desired
  • 7+ years experience within a learning and development function, including performance consulting, instructional design, facilitation and project management.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong instructional design skills, and knowledge of adult learning theory.
  • Demonstrates a focused, organized and systematic approach to accomplishing tasks and achieving goals.
  • Experience designing and developing technology-enabled learning solutions.
  • Client business knowledge; interacts with clients with an understanding of their business, industry, goals, business plans and organizational structure.
  • Strong project leadership and project management skills.
  • Experience working with subject matter experts and multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively with a project team, cross-functions and with outside vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast moving environment and to meet project deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office software
