SUMMARY

As a Learning and Development Program Manager for our California Distributors, you will be responsible for analyzing training and development needs and creating and implementing training and development programs for the Sales, Warehouse, Delivery, Finance, and Accounting functions across two main locations (Hayward and Los Angeles).

You will partner with management, cross-functional teams, and subject matter experts to develop broad-based training and process solutions through use of instructional systems design and collaboration with external providers. In this impactful role, you will create, develop, and execute programs to improve efficiency and effectiveness of training and performance management efforts across the California Distributors.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Partners with the senior HR leaders in the creation of an overarching learning and development strategy for the California Distributors that leverages the use of multiple learning methods such as formal classroom training, online learning, social learning, communities of practice, performance support, launch and learn programs, podcasts, and knowledge management.

  • Develops curriculum and delivers formal training programs for audiences of varying levels of sophistication across multiple locations in California.

  • Serves as the process owner for one or more enterprise-wide learning and development processes and provides oversight as to ways to continually improve associated practices.

  • Evaluates training currently provided across departments, determine gaps in consistency and provide solutions and processes for establishing and maintaining consistency.

  • Evaluates and recommends training and performance management solutions to meet employee training and development needs.

  • Develops, recommends and makes timely changes to training systems, policies, programs, and schedules, based on knowledge of identified training needs, business systems or changes in products, procedures or services.

  • Creates and launches compelling and integrated marketing campaigns that generate excitement and utilization of training programs and resources

  • Ensures that all training programs, practices, materials, and coursework are consistent and meets best practice and Corporate standards.

  • Partners with Corporates Learning and Development teams in the execution of Companywide training programs (i.e. annual compliance trainings, policy acknowledgements).

  • Establishes formalized on-boarding training plans for key positions and sets-up training schedules for new employees.

  • Owns the reporting and communication of training performance metrics to all the relevant stakeholders.

  • Organizes and develops training manuals, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids and other educational materials.

  • Ensures proper training of staff and key training partners; ensures that established best practices are followed.

  • Oversees and manages projects of various levels of duration and complexity.

  • Monitors and tracks all training completions and partners with training department to ensure completion records are captured in the Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Develops and maintains operating budget and capital spending plan. Ensures budgetary performance.

  • Monitors and ensures achievement of performance goals and objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of corporate training, organizational development or human resources experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; or High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificated plus 9 years of corporate training, organizational development or human resources experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience in the application of adult learning methods in the development of training programs.
  • Experience in the application of project and program management practices.
  • Experience in developing and executing change management plans.
  • Experience developing training curricula for classroom, online, and blended programs.
  • Ability to travel 30% - 50% of the time between the Hayward, CA and Los Angeles, CA offices. Majority will be day trips

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Human Resources, Organizational or Leadership Development, plus 8 years of corporate training, organizational development or human resources experience to include project management experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Leadership Development or Organizational Development.
  • Certification in Achieve Global or DDI.
  • Excellent facilitation skills and the ability to manage group dynamics.
  • Experience managing comprehensive learning and development programs.
  • Experience working in a complex matrix work environment with dual reporting relationships and multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of training learning and content management systems and software.
  • Knowledge of formal and informal learning methods, including social learning, communities or practice, performance support, and knowledge management.
  • Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions and recommendations
  • Experience writing speeches and articles for publication using original or innovative techniques or style.
  • Ability to use appropriate communication style for various levels across the organization
  • The ability to work independently, with thoroughness and accuracy
  • Effective collaboration and relationship building skills
  • Experience using Articulate 360.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Word, Excel, MS Access and MS PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
