Role summary:

 

The Retail Learning and Development Specialist will be responsible for the development and training of Retail employees through a variety of learning methods including classroom facilitation, on-line opportunities, and webinars. Focus will be on product knowledge, customer service skills, sales skills, system knowledge, policies and procedures.

 

This position is responsible for course and content development and delivery of retail training to all new hire and existing employees. Maintains current knowledge base on all bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations and security measures. Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the HomeTrust corporate culture in all actions and words. Takes personal initiative and is a positive example for others to emulate.

 

specific job functions:

 

  • Coordinate and deliver training to new and existing retail employees in the areas of service, sales, systems, compliance, security, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform needs assessments to identify performance improvement solutions.
  • Utilizes appropriate instructional design methods to prepare learning programs to meet bank-wide needs.

  • Develop creative classroom activities using various techniques to enhance the learner’s experience and reinforce major course objectives.
  • Assist in the design, development and maintenance of training solutions for a variety of mediums (i.e. classroom, web-based, blended learning). Utilizes appropriate applications to develop on-line courses and webinars.
  • Prepare and distribute training aids such as instructional material, handouts, evaluation forms, and visual aids.
  • Conduct follow-up and evaluation of trainees through branch visits and correspondence with trainees and supervisors to ensure transfer of knowledge.
  • Remain current on all new and updated policy and procedures affecting retail employees, and continue professional development in the field of training through available resources (e.g., ASTD, journals, newsletters, web sites, etc.).
  • Serve as a liaison to retail and support personnel relating to training and bank operations policy and procedures.
  • Administers Learning Management system for retail deposit users, coursework and reporting.
  • Builds required cross-functional relationships to ensure bank training needs are being met.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

knowledge/skills required:

  • Knowledge of all HomeTrust Bank retail products and services.
  • General knowledge of Bank deposit and investment products and services.
  • Knowledgeable on learning methodologies and instructional design.
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional and content design using multiple platforms; instructor led, online, and other.
  • Strong facilitation skills with demonstrated ability to present information in a clear, concise, and confident manner
  • Demonstrated excellent attention to detail.
  • Well refined and polished communication skills.
  • Successful completion of in-house training program (if available) or approved outside training program.
  • Familiarity with all federal and state banking regulations pertaining to lending and consumer compliance, including fair lending laws.

  • Ability to understand, and use Bank policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to communicate positively and effectively one-on-one and in small group meetings or presentations.

job requirements:

 

  • Four year degree in business related field or a combination of experience and education

  • 2+ years experience in a training role; strong preference for bank related training.

  • Experience with Learning Management system administration and reporting preferred.

  • Previous banking experience in a retail branch environment.

  • Demonstrated competency with personal computer use, with good understanding of financial institution systems, products and services.
