Job Overview:
The design manager collaborates in the development of ‘bar raising’ learning experiences that are 1) customer-centric, sustainable, and scalable, 2) reflect our values, behaviors, and priorities and 3) measurably meet business and performance goals.  Specifically, the design manager will design, build, enhance, and maintain both core and initiative-specific learning experiences on an enterprise scale.

Perform other duties as assigned. This position is based out of Cincinnati OH.
Essential Functions:
• Partner in the identification and/or clarification of holistic learner needs (skills, knowledge, motivations, goals) and business needs. Connect the business needs with the learner needs, and suggest learning experiences to bridge gaps and achieve desired outcomes.
• Collaborate to design contemporary learning experiences that enable learning, empower our colleagues, and meet them where they are.  Apply instructional design methods and adult learning theories in a learner-centered design approach.
• Architect the information hierarchy, flow, and tone of both the high level experience and individual learning components.  Collect, curate, and/or create the content associated with the agreed upon learning solutions.  Map content and activities to support learning outcomes. Write compelling, effective copy aligned to the learning modality.
• Optimize the use of learning technologies that create efficiencies that help us scale.
• Embed data collection and feedback mechanisms throughout our learning solutions to generate data-driven, actionable insights.
• Be a student of the business and the industry.  Leverage internal and external thought leadership in both the business and learning fields to broaden your perspective and shape the learning solutions you develop. 
• Collaborate with, learn from, educate, and influence partners across the organization in both the development and execution of learning solutions.  Understand their unique motivations and priorities.  Help them see value in new approaches.  Solicit diverse perspectives, actively listen, openly debate, and align/come to consensus.
• Set and stay focused on individual priorities.  Flex with business strategy changes.  Operate with speed.

• Communication: Outstanding storyteller who can align communication style with both audience and medium.
• Instructional Design: Ability to translate business strategy into the most appropriate learning solution including workflows, simulations, websites, instructor-led virtual and classroom training, videos, and performance support tools.  Experience with adult learning models.  Experience developing curriculum using multiple synchronous and asynchronous training modalities including instructor-led, micro-learning, blended learning and virtual training materials
• Collaboration: Strong relationship-building skills with a proven track record of accomplishing work effectively in a multi-functional team environment
• HR Functional Proficiency:  Knowledge of major responsibilities, accountabilities, and organization of the HR function or department; ability to use and administer the organization’s HR policies, strategies and environment.


• Bachelors or equivalent with 5+ years of HR and learning design experience in an omni business environment.
Communication Skills:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to read, write and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills:
Must have above average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
Reasoning Ability:
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands:
This position involves extended periods of sitting and the extensive use of computer and office equipment. 
May involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching. 
Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work Hours:
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.
