The talent management team partners with business functions and HR Partners across GAF to assess learning needs, identify appropriate learning, and develop and deliver solutions to facilitate the achievement of the business’ goals. 

The Learning & Development Specialist partners to:

  • Understand what it takes to be successful across a wide range of corporate functions

  • Create/refresh/maintain associated learning curricula

  • Provide professional skills training and support performance management initiatives

  • Create learning paths for key roles in various corporate functions

  • Work closely with GAF functional groups to ensure training content is relevant  

  • Continuously drive the creation of innovative training tools and course curricula

Key Responsibilities:

Assess Learning Needs (15%)

  • Conduct training needs analyses (TNA) to successfully assess, identify, prioritize and address performance and learning and development needs across corporate functions

Design/Delivery Solutions (35%)

  • Design, implement and measure programs that foster employee professional development and continuous learning in pursuit of functional excellence

  • Design and develop high quality, innovative, and modern learning programs based on SAM or ADDIE and adult learning theories

  • Facilitate training using a variety of instructional techniques including reflection exercises, group discussions, role-play, video, and on the job learning. 

  • Leverage learning technologies to deliver best-in-class learner experience 

  • Focus on metric-centered approaches to learning– create success stories and articulate the business value

  • Manage program logistics including marketing and budgets; some training coordination may be required

Partner/Connect (50%)

  • Serve as a consultative resource to all levels within corporate function client organizations 

  • Proactively seek feedback to ensure solutions are effective and meet the needs of the business 

  • Leverage Talent Management colleagues, internal SMEs, “leaders as teachers”, or evaluate and source external vendors for high-quality program delivery 

  • Evaluate, source and manage external vendor partner relationships


  • Advanced understanding of adult learning theory and ADDIE, SAM, Agile methodologies

  • Advanced understanding of instructional design and curriculum development

  • Project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and projects

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 

  • Advanced facilitation skills

  • Superior relationship management skills and mindset to deliver a customer-centric approach to all client learning programs

  • Influencing skills and confidence to serve as a valued partner



  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • 5+ years of experience in Learning & Development or Talent Management Function

  • Proven success in learning and development

Preferred qualifications:

  • Continuing education and/or certifications in instructional design, facilitation, coaching, leadership, or other learning and development areas of expertise
