The Learning & OD Specialist will design, develop, deliver, and measure learning and performance improvement programs that support CHOC’s business objectives while fostering a culture of continuous learning.

  • We’re looking for professionals who have at least 5 years of instructional design experience including the delivery of instructor led training to all levels of the organization
  • Strong knowledge in OD theory, application and understanding of group processes
  • Learning concepts, content, adult learning theory & instructional design experience
  • Strong Executive training presence



  • Five or more years of professional-level experience delivering learning, training, organizational development, human resources development, e-learning development, instructional design, process improvement, and consulting to adults


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Prefer any of the following: Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CLCP); Certified Performance Technologist (CPT); Certified DDI Facilitator; Certified Situational Leadership: Building Leaders Facilitator; Other certifications in e-learning development, instructional design, process improvement, psychological methods or similar

Specialized Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of learning and development methodologies; formal design and development approaches, adult learning best practices, industry training technologies used to deploy, maintain and monitor learning. 
  • Strong experience with course curriculum development, writing training manuals/material, training assessment, and the use of multiple training platforms including classroom, multimedia, web-based, etc. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly with employees at all organizational levels, and across differing cultural backgrounds.
  •  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong public speaking ability. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, and other software.
  •  Ability to function independently, as well as in partnership with other HR and OD team members in a healthcare setting.
  •  Strong business relationship building skills; ability to interact with CHOC associates at all levels; ability to manage relationships at all levels throughout the organization.
  • A differentiating skill will also include creating/delivering communication strategies to support execution to these projects/programs/processes.
  • Competent in using eLearning software and training technologies (i.e., Adobe Captivate, Articulate, FLASH, Dreamweaver); skilled in using learning management systems (i.e., Cornerstone, Blackboard, SkillSoft, TOPYX).
