The Holland America Group is currently searching for a highly motivated Learning Specialist who will be responsible for partnering with land-based corporate teams to identify effective learning solutions and with the shipboard fleet Learning & Development team to align with Global Learning & Development objectives, facilitate training and development sessions in ILT and VILT formats, and perform all phases of agile instructional design, including consultation meetings and iterative design and development.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively presenting training using facilitation methods that promote learning culture.
  • Developing effective courses for ILT, VILT, and eLearning formats.
  • Employing questions, storytelling, reflection and other engagement techniques to create meaningful learning experiences.
  • Conducting needs analysis to identify solutions aligned to organizational goals.
  • Creating learning solutions that drive business results.
  • Evaluating Learning by analyzing: 1) Reaction; 2) Learning; 3) Behavior; and 4) Business Impact.
  • Revalidating and peer-reviewing new and existing learning materials and programs to meet quality and style guidelines.
  • Developing clear timelines for ongoing and periodic task associated with projects and programs.
  • Fostering a collaborative team culture where each member takes pride in the quality of the team’s collective work.
  • Demonstrating assertive ownership over work assignments by tracking projects and providing updates and recommendations to leadership. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Instructional Design, eLearning, Training, or Education.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in Instructional Design, eLearning, or Training.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in instructional design, including the ability to translate ILT curricula into engaging eLearning and VILT formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate learning on ILT and VILT platforms.
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated consulting and needs-assessment skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and recommend creative solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to balance and adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Familiarity with agile instructional design methods.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and job training environments.
  • Familiarity with learning culture, 70:20:10, and an interest in staying current with industry innovations.
  • Highly proficient in MS Suite, Adobe authoring tools, and Articulate Storyline 2 or 360.
  • Limited standing, no more than 25% of work days require standing during facilitation for 2-8 hours.
  • Up to 10% travel, domestic and international, and occasional visits to the ships in the fleets.
  • Work beyond normal business hours will be required occasionally to support business needs, projects or operational support that may be required outside of normal business hours or on weekends.
