The Manger, Instructional Design position is an individual contributor position (no direct reports) responsible for consulting with internal businesses to drive high-quality learning experiences for all e-learning and facilitated programs, virtual classrooms, and performance support systems. The successful candidate will have proven success working autonomously across business and geographic boundaries, building and maintaining strong business relationships, collaborating with SME’s and facilitators, and managing the lifecycle of comprehensive learning programs. The role requires extensive experience scoping projects, conducting front-end analyses, and creating learner-centered instructional approaches and strategies for a variety of delivery media. Candidates should also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and supervisor skills in explaining technical topic to novice level learners. The ideal candidate is equally proficient in paper-based, computer-based, blended, virtual, and mobile solutions.



  • Designs curricula using established design models, templates, and industry-standard software (Articulate, Adobe, etc.)
  • Consults with key business areas, the department lead, and customers on performance improvement strategies, learning strategies, blended curriculum design, and business issues related to learning needs and initiatives.
  • Conducts variety of front-end analysis (gap, audience/learned, task, content, etc).
  • Exhibits congruence between training objectives, instructional strategies, and test methods to ensure instructionally valid and reliable materials.
  • Conducts business with strong interpersonal communication to ensure successful interactions during in-person meetings, phone calls and conferences, virtual meetings, and mobile communication such as e-email or instant messaging.
  • Works with cross-functional team members to secure and develop appropriate media (images, video, narration, 3-D models, etc.) integration into content, as appropriate.
  • Takes direction from Manager, Organizational Development as required.
  • Participates in special projects as required.
  • Minimal travel to client locations for meetings, pilots, etc., or for internal training and development opportunities.


TRAVEL: 5-10%



  • Using methods, models, and strategies for creating adult learning such as learning theory, psychology (educational, learning, cognition, etc.) motivation theory, performance improvement/performance engineering, instructional technology, technical writing, and evaluation methodologies.
  • Producing content or synchronous and asynchronous delivery media such as instructor-led, micro-learning, computer-based, virtual, and mobile.
  • Translating business strategies into the most appropriate learning solutions.
  • Juggling multiple assignments without losing focus, productivity, or quality.
  • Using ADDIE and/or other models of instructional design or Agile development, and evaluation models.
  • Strong analytic, research, critical thinking, and time management skills while maintaining creativity and learner-focus.
  • Works independently and under minimal guidance with cross-department and cross-functional teams.
  • Quickly adapts to new technologies, processes, business needs and drivers; remains flexible in a changing environments.
  • Passionate about positively impacting business drivers, enabling measurable return, enhancing employee performance, and delivering exceptional learning and customer experiences.
  • Proficient in standard Office programs.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Psychology, HPI, or related field.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Experience with mobile learning and mobile learning platforms strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Articulate products (360 preferred).
  • Experience with Creative Suite products strongly preferred.
