Purpose of the Job

The Manager, Organizational Development & Training partners with the Director of OD/Training to identify, develop, coordinate and deliver learning programs and solutions that meet business, operational and human performance objectives which ultimately enhance staff’s abilities to meet the financial needs of our members. Additionally, this role is responsible for delivering leadership development courses, training logistics and measuring success of training programs to ensure business objectives are met. The Manager also manages and coordinates activities of the corporate trainers and partners with the Director of OD/Training to assess staff performance and interviewing for open positions as needed.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Partners with business units and subject-matter experts to clearly define training needs and information that need to be disseminated throughout the organization.
  2. Oversees day-to-day operations of both training locations, Winston-Salem and Charlotte, including, but not limited to, equipment/space functionality, creating safe and effective training environments and scheduling of training events and rooms taking into consideration space availability, trainer’s workload distribution, and impact to credit union staff.
  3. Oversees and collaborates with staff trainers on planning, execution, tracking and follow-up on high quality interactive learning solutions for staff that employs adult-learning concepts and methods effectively and consistently throughout a variety of delivery mediums such as instructor led classrooms, virtual classrooms and e-learning courses.
  4. Communicates and develops independently or collectively with trainers to produce comprehensive project plans outlining approach, resources, delivery dates etc. of training initiatives to appropriate business units, subject-matter experts and/or project leads.
  5. Collaborates and communicates the progress, risks, concerns and completion of training events and initiatives to the Director of OD/Training.
  6. Supervises and guides staff trainers and a Quality Assurance Analyst in areas including, but not limited to, workload assignments, policies and procedures compliance, attendance and schedules, training event issues, creating safe and effective training environments, and curriculum development that ensures outstanding outcomes that promote adult-learning concepts and methods effectively and consistently.
  7. Coaches, develops and evaluates instructor’s training performance/facilitation and presentation techniques providing recommendations for improvement.
  8. Tracks and maintains training metrics and reporting.
  9. Serves as the Training department liaison for all KBox training requests and manages those requests appropriately and in a timely manner.
  10. Serves as a subject-matter expert for our knowledge management system (Truliant Library), learning management system (Truliant Academy) and other training technologies to promote effectiveness and efficiencies.
  11. Stays abreast of Training industry trends and standards and recommends methods and leverages technologies to improve the training process and methods.
  12. Assists in the recruiting process for hiring new training dept. positions, when open, including creating interview guides, conducting interviews and selecting ideal talent.
  13. Serves as back-up instructor for the Training and Development Specialists; performs all functions of Training & Development Specialists.
  14. Creates, executes and tracks CBT/Online learning courses.
  15. Fosters an environment that supports efforts and builds team relationships.
  16. Manages special projects for the training dept. for resources allocation, development and execution of training courses and various materials.
  17. Delivers quality leadership development courses in a manner that exemplifies Truliant’s mission, philosophy and Vital Basics principles.

  • Outstanding behavioral interviewing knowledge and skills required
  • Must be resourceful and well organized, with strong attention to detail
  • Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment required
  • Must have working knowledge of learning and knowledge management systems
  • Must possess extraordinary classroom facilitation skills and delivery
  • Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks concurrently

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with dept. and organization leadership respectfully.

Physical Requirements

  •    Must be able to stand for long periods of time in order to conduct training sessions 
  •    Occasional walking, bending, and stooping required
  •    Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
  •    Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds


Education and Background

  • Related Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of previous instructional design/curriculum development and training delivery experience
  • 3+ years of experience supervising staff required
  • 3+ years of delivering quality leadership development programs and courses
  • 3+ years of experience with knowledge and learning management systems and self-authoring programs like Camtasia, Articulate and other such programs required
  • Development Dimensions International certification required
  • Financial services experience preferred
  • Franklin Covey course certification preferred

ATD certifications or membership preferred
