This is one of two new positions within OneAmerica to lead the implementation of an integrated training organization.  This role ensures strong strategies are in place to address the skill/role-specific training needs of our Associates to positively impact our enterprise goals and objectives.  The position will partner closely with leaders in our business areas and enterprise functions to deliver exceptional support.

Performs other duties as assigned:

  • Partners with VP and other Manager, Technical Training to build the infrastructure, processes, and skills necessary to effectively support the technical learning and development needs of the business.
  • Monitors performance of trainers and the effectiveness of courses. 
  • Approves proposed project plans to ensure projects are aligned with standards and business-area strategy.
  • Allocates appropriate resources to ensure that projects are completed within committed time and budget.
  • Leads a team of training professionals who create and deliver innovative and creative approaches in their delivery - building engaging experiences for our learners.
  • Oversees demand management for the training function by balancing the needs of the business, working closely with your peer to effectively prioritize the needs.
  • Develops and manages the schedules and budgets for work efforts and keeps key stakeholders apprised of project status throughout the process.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and evaluating performance of direct reports. 
  • Supports and enables ongoing development of performance consultants, instructional designers, multimedia developers and trainers. 
  • Manages the daily training delivery activities enterprise-wide to support the ongoing efforts by increasing the capabilities, skills, and performance of all associates. 

Previous Experience:

  • Instructional design and development with a strong understanding of adult learning principles, methods, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Identifying training needs and applying adult learning theory and education principles to the practice of instructional design and strategy.
  • Proficiency with performance consulting principles.
  • Leveraging project management fundamentals, including experience with iterative design and development or agile principles, and application of an ADDIE development model.
  • Scoping project deliverables, creating and managing project plans, allocating resources, and managing stakeholders.
  • Conducting training needs assessments and determining recommended approaches
  • Developing and managing relationships with multiple departments in creating, maintaining, revising, and evaluating courses.
  • Leading and building a high performing team.

The ideal candidate:

  • Possess a bachelor’s Degree in Education, HR, Instructional Design, Multimedia Design or related area
  • Certification preferred, CPLP or CPT
  • Minimum of 6-8 years professional and/or people leadership experience
  • Knowledge of instructional design, performance consulting, and adult learning principles
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and interact with associates and business stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong planning, organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications at all levels of the organization.
