NATIONAL SALES TRAINING MANAGER

The successful candidate will develop and field ongoing training programs to enhance the selling skills of RLS sales personnel and independent purveyors (e.g. distributors). Spearhead the RLS Sales Approach throughout the entire sales organization, ensuring a consistent and effective use of sales communication and prospecting skills that optimize sales productivity.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assumes role of primary trainer for sales team including delivering current and future product and sales training for supported brands, and all other topics covered in Basic and Advanced Training curriculum for the RLS sales management team and purveyors.
  • Trains sales team and purveyors in the areas of product knowledge, marketplace competition, effective communication, basic to advanced selling and negotiation skills, business acumen, computer operations, administrative procedures, general flavor & culinary terminology, handling objections, and fact based presentation skills.
  • Assists in the design, development, and implementation of training programs in a wide variety of formats including written and other media-based training.
  • Conducts monthly Purveyor Training programs as well National meeting training sessions.
  • Creates follow-up programs for continuation of Sales Management team development.
  • Works closely with Marketing and Field Leadership to plan for and develop programs that support the brand strategy.
  • Evaluates, manages and recommends outside vendor training resources and programs.
  • Conducts off-site regional and local training programs as requested to facilitate development of specified distributors and sales team members.
  • Assists with developing and implementing strategic training plans for new product launches.
  • Attends various sales, management and training programs for continued personal and professional growth.
  • Facilitates and evaluates role-plays in various selling situations.

 

Secondary Functions

  • Continually assesses the training and developmental needs of RLS Sales Managers and Distributors through various methods including regularly scheduled field visits.
  • Evaluates trainee performance and keeps Field Management informed of progress.
  • Assists in coordinating job searches and recruiting of independent purveyors and sales personnel as needed.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading industry publications and networking within our industry.
  • Work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team to develop training.
  • Work hand in hand with all other departments to optimize communication and administrative flow programs, and problem resolution.

Requirements

Work Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years food or CPG industry sales experience or teaching/training experience or 3+ years of foodservice sales experience
  • 2+ years of experience calling on restaurants, hotels, caterers, healthcare or senior living facilities, or universities or schools; and/or selling foodservice products, preferred
  • Field Trainer, District Manager or other training experience

 

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) from four year college or university
  • Masters/MBA (Preferred)

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to develop training classes/workshops (online and in-person)
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills (both oral and written)
  • Excellent planning and organization skills
  • Work proficiently with Microsoft Office software (e.g. Power Point, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to learn Just Foods and Phoenix.Net software and train others on proper utilization of these software tools.
