JOB OVERVIEW The Organization Development Consultant works with UCSF-wide senior leadership. Independently uses and applies wide-ranging experience and proficiency in organizational development, effectiveness, business process analysis and strategic planning on projects that typically have organization-wide impact. Understands business needs and how systems, both clinical / technical and adminstrative, can support those needs. Having wide-ranging experience, uses organizational development concepts and organization objectives to resolve the most complex issues with organization-wide impact. Works on most complex issues of strategic engagements with great political sensitivity, where analysis of circumstances and information requires an in-depth evaluation of factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Internal and external contacts often pertain to organization plans and objectives. Is considered a subject matter expert of the organization and often recognized as an expert. LEARNING & ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT Learning and Organization Development department supports all UCSF staff and leadership at all levels up to the Chancellor and his cabinet. The department’s focus is on creating continuous learning environment and supporting organizational effectiveness. The department interacts and operates at the following levels: * Providing organization-wide consulting regarding strategy, engagement, change management, etc. * Consulting with departments, schools, UCSF Health and Campus executive leadership * Developing individuals in professional and leadership competencies * Administering the learning management system and compliance training. It is the only campus in the 10-campus UC system dedicated exclusively to the health sciences. *LI-NL1 Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development or related area and 10+ years of experience, and / or equivalent experience / training * Expert knowledge of the organizational development and effectiveness field, theories, models to assess, design and implement customized organizational interventions. Minimum 15 years of related experience * Knowledge of the consulting process to effectively lead highly significant engagements from inception to conclusion * Knowledge of the organizational environment of higher education and large research universities to understand client priorities, issues, motivations and constraints * Demonstrates superior analytical, problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills * Possesses superior relationship building skills * Demonstrates superior strategic-thinking and consulting skills in guiding the organization toward workable strategies and solutions * Highly-skilled in navigating organizational complexity * Incorporates excellent skills in change management programs on a regular basis * Have superior written, verbal and presentation skills for influencing and facilitating sustained change * Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize and generalize based on information obtained. Sound judgment, ability to draw unbiased conclusions * Ability to focus on priorities, strategies, and vision * Ability to facilitate and influence people at all levels. Ability to persuade through both logic and appeal to positive motivations. Ability to handle multiple constituencies, agendas, engagements and tasks, and to deal productively with ambiguity and conflict Preferred Qualifications: * Master's degree in Learning and Organization Development or its equivalent * Several certifications in Organization Development methods and concepts * Experience with UC culture and practices n/a The University of California San Francisco is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
