The Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for creating engaging learning activities and compelling course content for online and blended courses, professional development seminars, and other educational forums. In connection with the development of such courses, the Senior Instructional Designer’s overriding goal is to develop learning systems that promote acquisition of knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Planning and Analysis
• Conduct a needs assessment in order to recommend appropriate design solutions and strategies.
• Analyze the characteristics of existing and emerging technologies and their potential use.

Design and Development
• Use an adult learning instructional design and development process appropriate for a given project.
• Organize instructional programs and/or products to be designed, developed, and evaluated.
• Design instructional interventions, including, but not limited to:
-Visual instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product
-Supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.)
-Plan non-instructional interventions.
• Incorporate educational technologies that support active student learning.
• Align content to student learning outcomes
• Review, update or modify existing instructional materials.
• Develop instructional materials.

Evaluation and Implementation
• Develop criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments
• Evaluate instructional and non-instructional interventions.
• Revise instructional and non-instructional solutions based on data.
• Implement, disseminate, and diffuse instructional and non-instructional interventions.

Strategy
• Oversee the strategic growth and advancement of all modalities, including online, blended, competency-based, and other innovative delivery modes.
• Update and improve knowledge, and skills pertaining to the instructional design process and gamification.
• Apply research and adult learning theory to the discipline of instructional design.
• Design learning assessments.
• Manage support process and provide training associated with educational technology.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.



Requirements

Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience
• Minimum 5 years’ instructional designer experience.

Computer Skills:
• Proficient with MS Suite, Captivate, MS Visio

Skills/Competencies:
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing project deadlines to produce most efficient, timely output of deliverables.
• An outgoing, approachable style and a passion for helping faculty and students to succeed.
• Possess a high degree of integrity and commitment to comply with policies, regulations, and codes of conduct governing all aspects of job responsibilities
• Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communications skills
• Attention to detail.
• Self-starter.

Travel Requirements:
• <5% travel to events and conferences
