Role Summary/Purpose:

At Synchrony we believe people matter and talent development is critical to our success.  In this highly visible role you will lead, inspire and develop a global high performing 100+ member Talent Development team by creating and delivering functional, professional skills and leadership development training to a growing Enterprise Operations function of over 13K employees. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Strengthen Talent Development organization through critical hires and retraining to support dynamic growth environment  
  • Set technology strategy that will accelerate development and delivery of digitized content for work at home, virtual and self-directed training objectives; support creation and delivery of micro-learning according to learner preferred channels including mobile devices; ensure on-demand videography of instructor led sessions for developmental and distribution purposes; support learner videography for assessment and best practices
  • Reduce classroom learning time by providing individualized assessment of new hire learning styles and tailor delivery of new hire and refresher training to optimize understanding and retention
  • Deploy strategies to develop and deploy new learning content faster.  Create qualitative and quantitative assessment criteria on our training content and delivery channel
  • Evolve learning gamification in the classroom and on the servicing floor based on associate and trainer performance metrics
  • Partner with Global Strategic Solutions to embed learning and development into omni-channel servicing strategy; ensure new capabilities get incorporated into new hire and refresher training
  • Establish a dynamic change control process and toolkit to keep functional, professional skills and leadership development content current and accessible.  Ensure software applications remain up to date and supported
  • Create easily accessible learning library to house functional content for new and existing associates.  Integrate into function’s knowledge management strategy
  • Oversee existing and new leadership development classes for all organizational levels within Enterprise Operations, working across functions to leverage best practices
  • Continue to evolve training specialists and training manager proficiency assessments. 
  • Establish and provide skill assess for performance specialists and front-line managers on coaching effectiveness
  • Partner with SYF Learning office on development of assessment centers to provide realistic simulation and practical observed feedback for evolving leaders; collaborate with SYF Learning team on SYF University, in-house certifications and other strategic initiatives
  • Partner with HR on creating and piloting a new associate recruitment strategy and applicant assessment to support our future servicing strategies
  • Establish vision and content for customer online learning modules that promote increased self-service and financial education
  • Promote brand and image of EO Talent Development team
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned



  • Bachelors in Business Administration, MBA preferred. 
  • In lieu of degree, must have 10+ years in leadership development
  • 12+ years leading and developing virtual teams
  • 8+ years-experience creating and delivering functional and leadership development content
  • Versed in adult learning styles
  • Proven ability to translate adult learning theory into actionable business learning plans

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in the financial services industry, particularly as it relates to operational management and/or training
  • Experience working in a regulatory sensitive environment
  • Experience with responsibility and oversight of a financial budget
  • Proven analytical skills and problem-solving skills related to reviewing information and decisioning how to effectively build subsequent learning strategies.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, inspiring leader able to motivate at all levels in an organization
  • Experience developing and delivering digital learning content to virtual learning base
  • Experience with measuring and assessing trainer and learner effectiveness across different mediums
  • Ability to lead and execute strategy initiatives; proven project management skills
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the selection process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • Effective 1-1-18, new hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must have at least a “consistently meets expectations” performance rating and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance requirement).
