Job Summary

The Learning and Development Manager is responsible for partnering with key stakeholders to ensure the learning and performance solutions created are impactful, engaging, and are aligned with organizational and departmental priorities. This role will oversee the consistent design, development, implementation and evaluation across all delivered learning and performance solutions. The Learning and Development Manager will oversee, coach and develop the Learning Specialist team.

A Day in the Life:

  • Oversee the design, development and evaluation of learning and performance solutions for multiple delivery methods including instructor-led, web-based, performance coaching, and blended instruction for specific content areas. The Learning and Development Manager will also partner with strategic stakeholders and decision makers to advice and consult on implementation strategies.
  • Responsible for planning, executing and managing instructional design projects leveraging internal resources, using effective project management methods, which include providing individual contribution as needed to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to proactively identify training needs through needs assessments, presenting recommendations and developing learning and performance solutions to address performance gaps.
  • Partner with the Talent Manager to build and align talent management processes, systems and reporting to ensure they are integrated with the organization’s strategic talent agenda.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to drive engagement initiatives across the corporate office.
  • Communicate and negotiate expectations for content, accuracy, timeliness, and areas of improvement of processes and deliverables. Evaluate deliverables to ensure quality and timely execution.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities within the design and development process to maximize effectiveness and efficiency and alignment with Talent Development goals which also includes supporting the ongoing assessment of instructional effectiveness for all existing and future training programs.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of all content created and developed while measuring retention, consistency, impact and engagement metrics for deliverables.
  • Responsible for the overall integrity of the instructional design and quality of all learning materials and performance solutions delivered.
  • Assist in the creation of strategy and programs in Talent Acquisition and Talent Management.
  • Research, identify, and implement new and emerging technologies/processes to evolve learning offerings.
  • Mentor and train new and existing associates on industry best practices and techniques from a learning experience and design standpoint.
  • Oversee the administration of learning systems, including the administration of the learning management system and Spotlight.
  • Analyze and improve on existing processes.
  • Support and contribute to company-wide efforts to enhance the culture and experience for all associates.
  • Facilitate training and meetings, as needed.
  • Support the creation of performance management resources and tools for the corporate office.
  • Manage and coach the learning specialist team. Set team goals and objectives aligned with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • BA/BS in Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Education, or related field.
  • 7+ years of instructional design or training development experience.
  • 7+ years of experience working closely with subject matter experts to develop training strategies and solutions.
  • 5+ years of effectively leading the building and delivery of complex training programs.
  • 5+ years of experience leading a team of instructional designers.
  • Experience creating learning solutions for retail or franchise/distributed workforce environments is preferred.
