Dierbergs Markets is looking for a hands-on Training and Development Manager who will work closely with key stakeholders on both strategic and tactical training and development initiatives that align with our Grow Every Day purpose.


The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team in the design, development, coordination, and execution of high impact training and development strategies for the organization as a whole.


Location: St. Louis, MO (Corporate office located in Chesterfield, MO) – Will offer relocation assistance if needed

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads a team of training specialists to effectively and efficiently create, deliver, and evaluate high impact learning and development programs, tools, and resources to build the character and skills of our workforce; this includes the following key  areas:
    • Onboarding  
    • Management Training and Development
    • Associate Training at Stores, Facilities, and Office
    • Compliance Training
    • Systems Training
    • Support Company initiatives
  • Produces a training infrastructure that creates a more productive and confident workforce by reducing the time to get Associates proficient in their roles
  • Partners with Operations,  Senior Leadership, and the HR team to determine training needs; conducts needs analysis and works collaboratively to research, evaluate, create, and implement innovative learning programs
  • Ensures a pipeline of future managers by accelerating growth, fosters learning environments to promote personal and professional development
  • Leads efforts in selection and execution of a learning management system by converting paper-based training materials into easily-understood module based training; regularly updates materials and reinforces programs
  • Determines training methodology and delivery methods that fit within operational constraints and are impactful, relevant and use a variety of learning techniques
  • Develops systems to evaluate the effectiveness of training; assesses and evaluates cost and benefits of training methods
  • Meets with business partners and senior leaders to gain knowledge of opportunities to continually build our training infrastructure to train and sustain desired business results in all areas of the business
  • Analyzes processes and systems making recommendations for improvement
  • Maintains strong working relationships with business partners by ensuring that our internal customers receive the best service
  • Exemplifies Grow Every Day and philosophies of Dierbergs with self, team, and outcomes; aggressively looks for ways to reinforce Grow Every Day in the culture and all work processes
  • Looks for opportunities to apply training “best practices” while taking into account unique business differences
  • Works under various time constraints and deadlines while managing a large number of projects
  • Responsible for maintaining all training records and material according to company and retention policies
  • Travels to the various store and satellite locations
  • Other duties as deemed necessary

Requirements

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Business or related field
  • 5 years’ experience in adult Training and Development
  • Minimum of 3 years previous management/leadership experience
  • Previous experience with an LMS required
  • Previous project management experience; ability to manage multiple high-priority projects
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to motivate and inspire teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
  • Takes a strategic business focus; understands business priorities, defines problems and desired outcomes, cuts through complexities, identifies root causes of problems, and makes sound recommendations by involving the appropriate people
  • Strong influencing skills; targets persuasion efforts to the appropriate business partners and influences outcomes; challenges the status quo to continually move the business forward
  • Strong management skills to include driving results through others, facilitating process improvements, including team and key stakeholders in decision making, providing performance feedback, and developing skills and encourages team growth
  • Demonstrates strong collaboration and partnership; facilitates the discussion and resolution of different views, leverages areas of agreement to gain consensus; raises difficult issues to gain alignment or resolution
  • Possesses a sense of urgency and solid decision-making skills; exhibits sound and accurate judgment
  • High level of attention to detail; ability to ensure execution of projects meet and reflect desired outcomes
  • Anticipates problems and takes steps to eliminate barriers or challenges before they present themselves
  • Possesses a high level of integrity, enthusiasm, and positivity
  • Must be committed to continuing self-improvement and education
  • Flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends and overnight travel (if needed)
