Job Summary

The Training & Development Technology Specialist is responsible for setting up and administrating an enterprise wide learning management system, training plan development, helping internal clients design, develop and deliver training, support and coaching for end users of packaged software programs.   

Essential Functions

  • Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."

  • Leads the effective implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Learning Management System (LMS) including system configuration, content, technologies, roles, users, security, internal system notifications, resolution of technical issues, overall system support and required supporting tools.
  • Manages the testing and evaluation of new features and tools associated/integrated with the LMS.
  • Creates systems, processes and standards that support the effective management of the LMS.
  • Design, develop and deliver LMS focused learning activities including the creation of online courses, tutorials and job aids for end users and system administrators.
  • Create content policies and standards for course and configuration management; drive continuous process improvement.
  • Develop high-trust, professional relationships with internal clients; both in the field and with our regional offices.
  • Analyze situations accurately, provide real-time resolutions and approaches balanced with long-term objectives.
  • Provide best-in-class customer service when communicating solutions to end users.
  • Monitor existing and new technologies to identify tools, applications and systems as well as technology advances and shifts that can provide a competitive advantage to the company.
  • Creatively problem solve and innovate to provide solutions to internal customers and push Matrix to forefront of best in class training and development programs.
  • Tracks usage of tools and the learning management system features to provide reports on trends.
  • Serves as team leader or project manager overseeing projects or special assignments and work with fellow team members to share knowledge on how to use technological tools to increase quality, productivity and efficiency.
  • Partner with internal SMEs to develop online content as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, instructional design, educational technology, online teaching or training-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years' experience managing a learning management system including prime responsibility for maintenance and administration. LMS implementation and Cornerstone LMS experience preferred.
  • Preference for professional certification, such as ATD's Certified Professional in Learning and Performance Certification or working on an education / training-related degree.
  • Advanced skills in areas of customer interface and customer satisfaction; excellent customer service.
  • Proven experience with adult learning principles and course design techniques.
  • Proven experience with creating, editing, and publishing video and audio for courseware.
  • Experience with graphic design and animation for courseware.
  • Preference for active member of an education / training-related professional society.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting of the issues and implications of in-class and computer-based learning.  
  • Ability to design and conduct training for appropriate audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to work employees with a wide variety of backgrounds and knowledge.
  • Must have a positive attitude with the ability to function in both a collaborative team environment and independently as needed.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with a high degree of initiative and an innovative approach to solving problems, with the ability to effectively manage time; ability to simultaneously work on and successfully complete multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of eLearning development / authoring software, preferably Articulate Storyline and Captivate; Proficient with SCORM, xAPI.
  • Position requires occasional overtime and travel.
