This is an exciting time to join the Personnel Division of Contra Costa County Health Services Department.   
We are looking for individuals who are solution-oriented and able to learn and thrive in a fast-paced, growing and changing environment. 
 
What you will typically be responsible for:

  • Providing consultation and training to managers and staff
  • Determining training needs, developing and delivering training
  • Assessing and evaluating effectiveness of training programs
     

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced trainer, coach and business partner
  • Customer service oriented. Your role will require you to be responsive and proactive when addressing internal customer needs.
  • A strong relationship builder with excellent communication skills.
  • Organized and results-driven. You will need to balance multiple assignments and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of curriculum development, training theories and assessment, design, development and implementation

Requirements


Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Possession of a bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business or public administration, human resources management, social or behavioral science, industrial psychology,  or a closely related field.

Experience: Three (3) years of full-time, or its equivalent, professional experience designing and delivering educational and organizational development programs to supervisors and line staff, preferably in a public agency.

Substitution: Additional qualifying experience of the type noted above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. One (1) year of additional experience of the type noted above may be substituted for the required academic major.

 

Selection Process:

  1. Application Filing: All applicants must apply on-line at www.cccounty.us/hr and submit the information as indicated on the job announcement by the final filing date. A completed Supplemental Questionnaire is required at the time of applying.
  2. Application Evaluation: Depending on the number of applications received, an Application Evaluation Board may be convened to evaluate and select the best-qualified candidates for invitation to the next phase of the examination.
  3. Writing Exercise Examination: Test material will be provided on the day of the exam.  Candidates will be required to review material provided and prepare a written response. Writing exercise will be evaluated on job related knowledge, skills and abilities. Candidates must achieve a score of at least 70 to be invited to the oral examination
  4. Oral Examination: Conducted by a Qualifications Appraisal Board who will evaluate candidates in job-related areas.

 
The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
