Position:         Training Coordinator

 

Overview:        The Training Coordinator is responsible for promoting and coordinating a proactive and effective training program to meet business, plant and individual goals. The role will be a resource to assist teams and individuals in determining appropriate training solutions to meet their needs and to develop effective training materials. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring the training program to ensure compliance with all training policies and requirements.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works with employees and leaders to develop and maintain training schedules/plans.
  • Works with employees and leaders to identify opportunities for improving the training program.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs) in the selection of appropriate learning resources to close identified skill and knowledge gaps.
  • Assists with the development and improvement of training materials and delivery of basic and advanced skills training.
  • Ensures appropriate subject matter experts review and approve plant-specific training/learning resources and ensures that all learning resources are up-to-date and available.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of learning resources (content and/or delivery methods).
  • Will be the local subject matter resource for the company Learning Management System (LMS) and coach employees on how to access learning resources.
  • Coordinates resources for delivery of plant training (i.e. qualified instructors, materials and/or facilities).
  • Conducts training where appropriate (where Training Coordinator is also subject matter expert or qualified instructor).
  • Ensures all personnel complete plant, company, and regulatory required training on time.
  • Ensures all required employee training records are up-to-date and maintained.
  • Communicates overdue training items to employees and leadership, as required.
  • Interacts with outside training contacts and functions (i.e. Training Coordinator Network, Training Manager) .
  • Manages training audits/assessment programs, conducts training surveys, and communicates results to employees.
  • Works with MOC owners to ensure that training requirements for changes are addressed.

Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Relevant BS or AS degree preferred (education/employee development/human resources).
  • 5 years equivalent training experience or related experience in a chemical/petrochemical plant or vocational technical school may be accepted in lieu of degree.

  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Comfortable working on a team or as an individual contributor.
  • Strong high level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess a strong aptitude for process safety.
