CHEERS! Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits currently seeks a full-time Training Manager, Sales Capabilities reporting to the Senior Director of Sales & Marketing Capabilities.

The Training Manager will play a critical role driving the company strategy to develop and build the sales team skills and selling capabilities in all channels of trade for the Western half of the U.S. This position has two direct reports.

We are looking for someone who has a proven track record of excellence in Sales Training and selling to multiple trade channels in the food/beverage industry. Someone who is passionate about training and developing others to drive performance. A person who brings out the best in others, shows boundless curiosity and is a fast learner. Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and partner closely with the Sales leadership team to identify development priorities and design training/coaching plan to address
  • Develop growth plans tailored to individuals that drive breakthrough results and align with company strategy
  • Execute training and coaching plan by conducting 1:1 sales coaching in-market, virtual coaching sessions, and live classroom training to develop the learners’ skill sets
  • Establish KPIs & goals for training initiatives, and measure progress and behavior change against them to understand training impact and effectiveness. Generate monthly and quarterly summaries with key insights and recommendations to ensure achievement of training goals
  • Inspire, motivate and develop two direct reports (DM Training Managers) whose primary responsibility is in-field sales training, to achieve performance metrics and drive high quality coaching through the District Manager (DM) sales team
  • Create and deliver instructor-led training on priority training topics and execution standards that result in positive behavior change for participants
  • Occasionally train distributor sales team in partnership with local Deutsch sales team
  • Create and drive adoption of relevant Sales training tools at field level
  • Responsible for the Western half of U.S. working from home office when not traveling and working in the field.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Learning & Development experience, with specific Sales Training experience in food/beverage industry
  • 3+ years of relevant sales experience in the food/beverage industry selling to multiple trade channels (Chain Grocery, Independent Retailers, and On-Premise) with increasing levels of responsibility
  • 2+ years having managed and developed direct reports
  • Strategic thinker who can connect strategy to execution, think big, bring new ideas, and turn them into reality
  • Proven track record of working with others to drive successful results
  • Relevant experience developing, delivering, and evaluating training initiatives to support company strategy
  • Skilled at problem-solving, focusing on what is possible
  • Is customer-focused, adept at understanding their needs, and collaborates effectively with them to solve their challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to influence ideas and execution at all levels of an organization
  • Dynamic and engaging presenter in front of medium to large audiences
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand data and systems and coach the Sales team on required skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to operate and perform independently.
  • Excellent project management and time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
  • Wine and/or spirits certifications preferred (i.e., CSW, CSS, WSET Level 3, Sommelier Certification, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to travel 40-50% of the time for in-field training and coaching
