Southwest Key Programs is looking for two Learning and Development Training Specialists. Our National Headquarters Office is in Austin, TX and we have program locations in Texas, Arizona, California, Wisconsin, New York, Georgia, Florida and Colorado. We are looking for to place a Training Specialist in our Headquarters office and another near our programs in Arizona or South Texas. 

The Learning and Development (L&D) Training Specialist is responsible for facilitating training courses and coordinating learning activities for all divisions of Southwest Key.  The L&D Training Specialist works under the direction of the Director of Learning and Development and helps to promote a professional, learner-focused training environment, committed to the mission, vision, and values of Southwest Key.  The L&D Training Specialist works collaboratively with training stakeholders, including human resources staff, department managers, and supervisors, to identify and understand employee performance and knowledge gaps, and implements appropriate training solutions that will enhance learning and skill building as needs arise.  The L&D Training Specialist interacts with all levels of staff, from a variety of cultural backgrounds, and utilizes innovative training methodologies to ensure that participants are stimulated and engaged, training objectives are met, and expected outcomes are achieved.

The role reviews training requests and assists in analyzing the results of training needs assessments to create and update the L&D training catalog and schedule. The position also assists with the administration of the Southwest Key learning management system and assumes a leadership role in promoting, coordinating, and evaluating online, classroom, and other L&D training events. Duties include:

  • Prepare for training delivery, organize training venues, logistics, transport, and accommodations, as required, to achieve efficient training attendance and maximize learning.
  • Facilitate training modules offered by the L&D department or vendor training programs, and manage a positive and professional learning environment.
  • Implement standardized staff development curricula, using research and best practices in the appropriate delivery method, including, but not limited to, classroom training, distance learning, blended learning, individual coaching, on-the-job training, skill building workshops, and other knowledge sharing events.
  • Assist in designing training materials, exercises, instructor guides and other collateral necessary to align learning solutions with course objectives and learner needs.
  • Communicate with learners pre- and post-training, build and sustain internal relationships, and establish credibility as an instructor and learning leader for Southwest Key.
  • Coach management team members in the application of leadership concepts and theories.
  • Use technology effectively across the different areas of expertise and review opportunities for integration of technology as a training and development solution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with five years of experience as a Trainer in Leadership, Human Resources, or Performance Management; or a Master’s degree in Human Resources, Training, or Organizational Development, with at least three years of experience as a Trainer in Leadership, Human Resources, or Performance Management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with various technologies, along with the ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Experience in researching training topics and creating educational and instructor materials, including background material, instructional materials, and training aids.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to present information in an engaging, approachable, and relatable style.
  • Working knowledge of the curriculum development process and familiarity with the latest technology for instructional design and curriculum development.
  • Understanding of contemporary practices and theories relating to performance management and leadership development.
  • Familiarity with andragogy and best practices for adult learners.

Preferred

  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Prior experience working and training in a non-profit or community-based organization.
  • Up-to-date certification in popular leadership training curricula, such as Situational Leadership, Stephen Covey or John Maxwell programs.
  • HR or ATD Certification
