Company Profile
Financial Beginnings
Company Overview
Financial Beginnings (FB) delivers financial education programming for students in kindergarten through adulthood. FB provides full-service programming, bringing together curricula rooted in promising practices and national standards that are delivered by volunteers, many of whom are financial professionals, to learners at schools and community groups. Prior to the pandemic in 2020, FB served approximately 40,000 in-person learners annually. During the pandemic, FB also added online, self-paced LMS classes to meet the needs of virtual learners. The organization recognizes the continuing value of online learning and seeks to expand its offerings in innovative ways as education and its delivery evolves.
Company History
Financial Beginnings (FB) was founded in 2005 with the mission to empower youth and adults to take control of their financial futures. FB is a national nonprofit consisting of state-based affiliates that provide FB's financial education programming. Current independent affiliates operate in Oregon and Washington, chapter affiliates in California and Nebraska, and programming is provided nationally via in-person and online courses.
Since its founding, FB has relied on volunteers to bring its financial education programming to life. Volunteers typically come from the finance industry and lack experience as educators. FB provides training and support to volunteer presenters to ensure effective program delivery. The organization traditionally provided this training through online webinars, but is now developing courses through its LMS to more effectively equip volunteers with the necessary skills to become effective instructors.
